About the Artist

Rebecca Anne Brady is an established painter and fibre artist based in Picnic Point, New South Wales. Her bespoke styles are influenced by her connection to the landscape, woven from the narrative of her life and adventures which are connected to the relationship with her children.

Rebecca’s unique and creative response to the Australian landscape is detailed and vibrant. Her compositions have been described as a kaleidoscope of colour and decorative markings that take the viewer on an adventurous journey. The many layers within Rebecca’s tufted tapestries and mixed media paintings are collaged, revealing hints of flora and a blend of textures and colours that celebrate the subject matter.

Rebecca’s first fabric collection for Rathenart Designs was launched in the Summer of 2011 at Las Vegas Fashion Week. She has continued to create and exhibit award winning works both nationally and internationally. Such exhibitions and awards pertain to Penrith Regional Gallery, Casula Powerhouse, Palazzo Velli Gallery, Rome, Italy and Gallery 11:11 North Epping.

    Artist's Statement

My work is a personal and emotive response to the Australian landscape, shaped by the lens of shared family adventures — where I rediscover the world through the wonder, curiosity, and unfiltered perspective of my children. Their way of seeing reawakens my own sense of awe, allowing me to engage with the land not as an adult weighed by routine, but with the imaginative freedom and openness of a child.

These shared moments become the heart of my practice—each artwork is a unique reflection of memory, imagination, and connection to place.

My compositions are frequently described as kaleidoscopic, layered with vibrant colour and decorative markings that invite the viewer on an expressive journey. Through tufted tapestries and mixed media paintings, I explore themes of belonging, memory, and transformation. I purposefully immerse myself in an imagined reality—one that embraces the spirit of play, the freedom of dreaming, and the wonder of childhood perception.

Based in Picnic Point, New South Wales, my practice is grounded in storytelling and driven by an experimental, tactile engagement with materials. Hints of native flora, textured surfaces, and collaged elements blend to evoke a sensory experience of the Australian landscape — one shaped by both lived experience and emotional resonance.
